Mental Illness and Health Care
Medications are used to cure the symptoms of mental disorders such as schizophrenia, attention deficit-hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), depression, bipolar disorder (sometimes called manic-depressive illness), and anxiety disorders. Sometimes medications are used with other combinations such as psychotherapy. Psychotherapy alone may be the best treatment for a person, depending on the illness and its severity. Psychiatric medications treat the symptoms of mental disorders.
